About Us

                                                                           The Problem

Like you, I struggled with how to stuff a duvet/comforter into a duvet cover. It generally meant crawling inside the cover and wrangling the two pieces of bedding together as best I could. The wrangling didn’t stop there … it continued daily when the duvet would shift and bunch up inside the cover. Oh, just one more trial in this major bedding crisis ... my queen size duvet was smaller than my queen size duvet cover!

Yes, I’m a type-A personality which meant I needed a remedy quickly. After an exhaustive search, I found a couple of products on the market but with no real appeal to me. What I really wanted and what seemed to be the ideal solution would be decorative comforter clips to be placed on each 4 corners during the insertion of the duvet and, even more importantly, could remain in place afterward to keep it from shifting.

                                                                                  The Solution

I created clips for my own use that accomplished exactly what I envisioned. They are both decorative and very functional. I was so pleased with their look that I decided to add a row of clips across the pillow top area of the duvet cover to add a bit of interest and pizzazz. These duvet clips have been used on my bed for 4 years and have proven their functionality. I am proud to offer my own line of handcrafted and hand painted comforter/duvet clips to you. Handy Accents® has now expanded our product line to include SlipCover Clips that offers a solution to decoratively secure slipcovers to your upholstered furniture such as sofas, chairs and ottomans.

                                                                                  The Name

As for the name, Handy Accents®,  well … it’s a short story about a girl and her horse.

For months, I toyed with different names for the business but none really seemed to click. The story unfolds when I began taking horse riding lessons in the summer of ‘08 and I absolutely fell in love with my lesson horse. The following January, he came to live with me. His name was Handy and he filled my days with absolute joy. Sadly, after a few short months Handy got very sick and left my world far too soon. It became very clear to me that I needed to use his name. And how fitting ... the clips are great accent pieces and are indeed quite handy.

I hope you enjoy your new Handy Accents® Duvet Clips and SlipCover Clips
